How To Keep Your Back Happy And Pain-Free

I’m pretty sure that everyone will suffer of back pain at least once in their lives. It’s one of the 21st century pains due to the sedentary lifestyle we have. If you ever experienced back pain, you already know how it may interfere with your plans and your daily activities. Many pains can be ignored but this one just can’t stand on the bench and let it resolve on its own. Keep in mind that back pain sometimes may indicate arthritis or nerve damage, even if most of the times happen due to a wrong bend or heavy lifting.

Actually, it happened to my mother the other days – she bent to grab Rocky (my happy Teckel) and she remained bent. Crack and the pain installed. Yes, she may not have the perfect bone structure due to her age (52), but there are no signs of arthritis. Thankfully, she didn’t need medical care and she could treat the pain at home.

The first thing she did was to apply the Ice/Hot Therapy…

Icing is key when you are experiencing lower back soreness and/or pain. If you are experiencing radiating pain into the lower extremities, continue to ice the lower back.

Heat helps to ease the strained muscle and reduce tension and can help to increase range of motion and reduce pain. Don’t let the heating pad get too hot and don’t use it for more than an hour or so at a time.

…then she got some rest…

Rest is vital when you are trying to relieve back pain naturally. Take two or three days off from your usual activities such as going to the gym, which could make the pain worse and lead to further injury of the musculature of the back. But gentle stretching and light walking its ok.

…but not before applying this natural salve for a fast relief.

Since turmeric and cayenne pepper are the number one natural ingredients for most aches and pains, I decided to incorporate both in the same salve ointment.

Ingredients:

125 g of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
8 g of Turmeric Powder
8 g of Cayenne Powder
A pinch of ground black pepper
25 g of Organic Beeswax Pellets
5 g of Organic Cacao Butter

How to prepare:

Infuse the turmeric, cayenne, and black pepper and coconut oil in Bain Marie. Set up a Pyrex glass measuring cup with a mesh strainer and cheesecloth set inside to filter the oil. Squeeze the cheesecloth to extract all of the goodness. Now, add the beeswax and cocoa butter and stir constantly and make sure that they touch the boiling point without overheating the ingredients. When melted, pour the ingredients in a jar with lid and let it cool for 3-4 hours. Then, you can use it immediately over the painful area.

As I mentioned above, when dealing with back pain you are not allowed to go to the gym or make intense exercises. However, you are allowed to perform low-impact stretches and the below program helped my mother a lot:
